Quantum Dice has appointed Janet Collyer, an experienced strategic technology group director and a pivotal leader in electronic design, as company chair.
Janet, an engineer by training with an MA in engineering from the University of Cambridge, will provide key strategic guidance and support Quantum Dice in commercialising its patented source-device independent self-certification (DISC™) protocol to provide trusted encryption for key generation at world-leading multi-Gbps rates.
Quantum Dice benefits from Janet’s unique combination of technical and commercial experience in the semiconductor systems industry. She has spent more than 30 years working at the NASDAQ-listed international electronic design software business, Cadence Design Systems. Most recently she was Group Director of Strategic Accounts where she led the global account team for key IP ecosystems, driving the creation and execution of bespoke approaches and effective ecosystem partnerships that delivered business revenue growth across the semiconductor supply chain. Prior to that, Janet gained experience in many areas, progressing through the engineering ranks, and working in roles spanning customer support, sales, programme management, and as product line director and UK & Ireland sales director.
Alongside her board role at Quantum Dice, Janet is also an Independent Non Executive Director at the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), Chair of the Board at Mach42, and Senior Independent Non Executive Director at EnSilica plc.
“It pleases me immensely to join Quantum Dice as chair. The need for robust cybersecurity excellence has never been greater. The ever-increasing number of transactions that need to be kept secure and the rapidly growing threats to that security mean that the industry needs ever more sophisticated measures to counter the threats. Quantum Dice is at the forefront of this work, so this is an exciting time for me to be working with the board and the rest of the Quantum Dice team to jointly make it happen.”
– Janet Collyer, Chair, Quantum Dice
As cybersecurity fast becomes one of the most critical priorities for both public and private sectors, and the average cost of a single data breach reaches an all-time high at $4.35 million (according to IBM’s Cost of a Data Breach Report 2022), it has never been more important for network security systems to have a fast, reliable, and secure source of random numbers. Quantum Dice’s high-speed QRNG product set and innovative DISCTM technology will make true quantum randomness accessible for a range of infrastructure and enterprise security applications.
“At Quantum Dice, we pride ourselves on not only having world-class technology, but on having a world-class team, and we are fortunate to announce that Janet Collyer has now joined it. Janet has an incredible track record working at the forefront of hardware technologies and her experience will be invaluable as we bring quantum hardware to the cybersecurity market.”

About Quantum Dice
Quantum Dice protects our connected future by harnessing the fundamental quantum properties of light to enable secure encryption. Leveraging its patented source-device independent self-certification (DISCTM) protocol, Quantum Dice is developing the world’s fastest and continuously self-certifying quantum random number generator (QRNG).
DISCTM QRNGs are suitable for a wide range of applications ranging from protecting terrestrial networks to providing quantum-secure entropy for satellite and IoT systems.
Founded in April 2020, Quantum Dice is an award-winning and venture-backed spinout from the University of Oxford’s world-renowned quantum optics laboratory. It is there where the architecture for its patented quantum source of entropy was originally invented.
Quantum Dice’s mission is to provide trusted and secure randomness leveraging the unique properties of quantum systems along with its patented DISC™ protocol.
