Quantum Dice Selected for Digital Catapult’s Digital Security by Design Technology Access Programme (TAP)

Oxford, United Kingdom – 3 December 2024 – Quantum Dice, a University of Oxford spin-out pioneering quantum random number generator (QRNG) technology, has joined the sixth cohort of the Digital Security by Design (DSbD) Technology Access Programme, a UK government-backed initiative, that aims to integrate secure-by-design principles into the development of resilient technologies.

Quantum Dice will join six companies working with the Sonata Board, the prototype cybersecurity technology designed by lowRISC and based on the CHERI (Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions) protection model created by the University of Cambridge. If fully implemented, the prototype technology could revolutionise cybersecurity.

Through its work with Digital Catapult, Quantum Dice will demonstrate high-quality, verifiable quantum entropy designed specifically for compatibility with CHERI based systems. This will allow critical infrastructure and IoT devices to incorporate secure, verifiable entropy that meet the unique demands of high-security requirements where device integrity, memory safety, and continuous verification are paramount.

By leveraging Quantum Dice’s patented DISC™ protocol for continuous quantum assurance, CHERIoT-compatible systems will benefit from real-time entropy measurement and verification, allowing device operators to quantify the security of cryptographic keys and encryption processes.

George Dunlop, Co-Founder and Director of Partnerships at Quantum Dice, commented:

“We are looking forward to working with the Digital Catapult as part of Cohort 6 and demoing with CherIoT. This initiative reflects our commitment to addressing the unique security needs of high-stakes applications with verifiable, quantum-enhanced solutions.”

Paul Ceely, Director of Technology – Strategy at Digital Catapult said:

“We are excited to welcome Quantum Dice as part of the sixth cohort of the Digital Security by Design programme. Their innovative, quantum-enhanced security solutions for CHERIoT systems demonstrate a strong commitment to the secure-by-design ethos we champion in the DSbD programme, and it will be fantastic to see how they combine that with their high-integrity entropy for critical infrastructure and IoT applications through this programme. Supporting deep tech companies like Quantum Dice in scaling their groundbreaking innovations is at the heart of our mission.”
